Content of the minor

Learning outcomes of the minor

Having completed the minor the students have an understanding of the textile design process in general, tools and methods used in textile design and production technologies.  The students are familiar with the use and functions of different textile materials. Through various assignments they explore and find their own way of expression.

Content of the minor

The content of the minor can be personalised and is to be discussed with tutoring teacher. Lectures and hands-on assignments in a form of a coordinated sample collections, structure and material analysis.

Application process and selection criteria

Common application period twice a year:

  • in autumn to courses starting next spring                          
  • in spring to courses starting next autumn

Student need to attach a letter of motivation and portfolio to the application. Selection criteria are earlier success in studies, motivation and possible earlier experience relating to the minor subject.

Application time is in the spring 2014 is 1.-15.5.2014. Students apply via eAge https://eage.aalto.fi/ 

Portfolio must be sent to the study coordinator at latest the final day of admission period.
